Vintage Sheet Cloth Napkins

I made some cloth napkins out of the vintage sheet fat quarter stash. They turned out really cute and are so fun to use! I trimmed them in vintage cotton ric-rac, but I think they would still be cute without the extras.

There are plenty of FQs available in the shop! And maybe I'll put together another bundle of seconds--they are perfect for napkins.

Vintage Sheet Nightgown

I made Elle this little nightgown out of a vintage sheet. The fabric was girly and lightweight and the sheet already had a built-in ruffle. Love time-saving details.
Isn't she cute?

Blogger Award--Lace & Thimble

Awhile back I was tagged at Lace & Thimble (the famous Chuck dress) to list 7 things about myself.
So here are 7 random facts:
  1. I don't really care for the color purple, despite the fact that when my friend Susie and I were about 10 we hung out in a store at the mall called Purple Passion. It was filled with all things purple, back when malls had stores like that. I must have gotten it all out of my system.
  2. I like to sing my chickens a goodnight song before bed. I know they like it because they make this little contented cooing sound back.
  3. I adore cooked carrots. When we were little my mom always said, "they taste like candy!" Well, they do taste like candy. It's true.
  4. I love to play the piano, especially technical classical pieces. The kind no one in my family appreciates listening to.
  5. I watch the musical, 1776, every July 4th.
  6. I'm saving up all my earnings from my etsy shop for a trip to England. I've never been.
  7. I rafted down the Rio Grande with my family when I was in high school. It was exhilarating and I've always wanted to do another white-water trip.
Thank you! That was harder than I thought, coming up with 7 different things, but fun. And now I'm craving some cooked carrots...

Etsy Love--AdaJane

Look at these sweet pillows accented with MVco fabrics! Aren't they adorable? I used to babysit for a family that had a quilt with those little prairie girls on it. I always thought it was so cute.

I especially think this burlap one is cute...
Thanks so much for sharing AdaJane!

Recent Finds

I went on a little spending spree last night. I was just in the mood.

I splurged on this vintage map of Texas. I love this one for many reasons: the blue water, the resources illustrations, the Texas name graphics --and-- the whole state is on one page in the Texas shape. So many book maps have Texas cut into pieces in order to fit on the page, and that destroys the point! Texas is the best looking state! I would LOVE to purchase all the states we've lived in, but they are pricey. However, if you tell this seller a story (300 words) she gives you 20% off. I will post my story here a little later. From Stories and Divinations. And then one of my favorite shops ever, Tied Up Memories is having a buy 2 get 1 free sale on earrings. Here's my 2 purchases, and I picked out a dangly mustard pair for free. I couldn't find the picture though.

They are both so springy and we are all for spring around here...

New Look for Talbots

My mom sent me the latest edition of the Talbots Catalog. I always thought Talbots was rather a classy old woman company, but their new looks are changing my mind! I'm loving these updated classics on Julianne Moore:

They also have a "French Inspired" line out with adorable skirts and dresses....
Thanks Talbots for enticing us with beauty and style!

Wedding Inspiration

I found this inspiration board at Dandelion and Grey. I love everything about it ( except the Pee-Wee Herman suit), the soft but bright colors, warmth and sunshine, vintage touches... Makes me wish I could marry Tyler all over again!

And why blogger insists on making all pictures enormous, I don't know. Click on it to see the whole thing.

Beautiful Sewing

I hadn't heard of Sajou until I got my Martha Pullen catalog in the mail. These are truly beautiful sewing accessories. Their website has even more beautiful things like pocketknives. Who doesn't want a beautiful pocket knife?!!!! Definitely on my wish list.

Just check out how pretty these things are:

I love these tiny pretty scissors. I'll have to save my pennies (or francs or euros)...
